FAQs – HIRE ITEMS
Why should I hire? Hiring is a great solution to fulfilling your party requirements! Whether it is table centrepieces, chair covers, props to compliment your special day, a candy cart or anything in between, A Special Event will work with you to help organise a great event, impress your guests and create lasting memories.
More often than not, the product you have purchased for that one special event that you think you will re-sell, will sit in your loft for a couple of years, and the price you get for it then won’t be what you paid. We are often approached to buy these items after use, and please note we don’t. Renting just works!
Do you deliver the hire items? Please see our T&Cs for details. It is the renter’s responsibility to establish workable delivery and pick up times. The renter is also responsible for the security and condition of rented items at their chosen location.
Who takes care of set up and take down? Set up and take down of items is included in the hire price of the items. We will need adequate time and access, approved by your venue prior to your event for both the set up and take down, this will be dependent on your service requirements. We will discuss this with you at the time of booking.

How long are the items left at the event? The items will be left from the start to finish of any event and overnight. Please note we do not collect after 8pm so you will need to ensure with your venue that we have access for collection the following day and the items can be left overnight.
What about bouncy castles? Rental prices for bouncy castles are from delivery time until 5pm. Delivery on bouncy castles are generally made between 9am and 1pm. Collections are up to 5pm, if you are hiring the castle for additional hours we will collect up to 8pm during the summer months. Times vary during other months due to the lack of daylight hours. If you require the castle after 8pm you will have to pay for a full overnight charge and this is subject to the area being secure, weather permitting and subject to availability. You must have prior permission from your venue for overnight rental and we must have access to the venue the following day for collection.
What about Insurance? We are a limited company and hold full public liability insurance & all other relevant certificates, which we will be more than happy to forward to you or your venue on request.
Do you hold any hygiene certificates? Our staff are all hygiene qualified & approved. We have Hygiene certificates from our local council. Hygiene is our number one priority for all our services.
What do you do with the left over sweets? The leftover sweets on the candy items are for you to take home, we advise you speak to your venue manager to put aside any you would like to keep. Any sweets left on cart upon collection are thrown away. We never re-use sweets from a previous booking and all sweets are delivered fresh.
Are all the candy carts suitable for children? Although we use plastic jars for the children’s carts the adult cart will have glass jars on them. For safety we advise all children are supervised by a suitable adult at all times when using any of our carts/services, as we cannot be held responsible for any breakages/incidents.
What payment method do you accept? We accept payment by bank transfer (please contact us for our bank details), credit or debit card or cheque. Please note all payments including cheques must clear before any items are secured or hired out.
What booking fee is required? A 25% booking fee is payable to secure your booking and a signed booking form must be completed and returned to us before the booking is secured.
When is the remaining balance due? Your final balance is due 30 days before your event, if your event is less than 30 days then full payment is due.
